Hi, my name is Robert Scott, although some of you may know me as COMICKAZE, and I am the founder, chief, cook and bottle washer of AFC Studio.

I have been involved in comics as a fan, retailer and now writer and publisher, for over 25 years. As a retailer I get to see the best and worst of comics on a regular basis and I decided that with the wealth of creative talent I had among my customers and the preponderance of drek I was seeing every month in Previews, maybe it was time to shake up the status quo.

The original idea behind AFC STUDIO was to provide an avenue for local talent to promote and publish their work. I had no intention of being anything other than a facilitator/editor and as I got to know which of my customers had the drive to get into the comic industry I shared my plan. Thus AFC Studio began to take shape.

On a fateful day in December of 1998, an artist by the name of Albert Silva forced my hand by telling me that he and a friend had created some characters that they really wanted to work into a comic but they were unable to come up with a story. We discussed his characters and some ideas I had worked on years before when I had aspirations of being a screenwriter. He liked what he heard and a few days later asked me if I'd be interested in working with him and thus was begat THE END.

THE END, debuted as a Limited Edition Preview at the San Diego Comic Convention in August 1999, and was redrawn and accepted for distribution by Diamond Comics in April 2000, was our first published comic work.

Currently I am concluding work on the prose vampire novel, WASTING THE DAWN, written by San Diegan David Hurwitz and featuring illustrations by Los Angelino, Bobby Breed. If you thought Anne Rice was good, just wait til you see this! Wasting the Dawn was such a grand project I felt it needed more attention than I could give it, so I will be releasing this through IDW Publishing in June of 2005.

In the meantime you can finish reading about us or you can click on the PROJECTS on the right side of the screen and check out what we're bringing you.

OK, OK, I'll tell you what AFC stands for! Every day I am besieged by e-mail. phone calls and snail mail by people who want me to carry their comic, most of which look like they were produced by monkeys. My reaction to these books lately has come to be, "Great, that's all we need, Another Fuc#!ng Comic Studio"! So now when an AFC book shows up and the person holding it utters those famous words "Great, that's all we need, Another Fuc#!ng Comic", we can happily say, "You're absolutely right and here it is! Of course it also helps that San Diego is known as America's Finest City" ! Now you know .

What will set AFC STUDIO apart from the rest ?

  • This is a labor of love for me. I am sick over the way many of my favorite titles are being reborn, relaunched or worse, retired! I don't care what the latest fad is, I just want to put an exciting story in your hands. It's my money and my name being put on the line and I'm not beholden to advertisers or shareholders to pump out garbage month after month.
  • AFC STUDIO stands poised to bring the best illustrated and prose stories it can find to press. We hope to produce a diverse line of entertainment from comics to illustrated novels to multimedia software and the only constant will be the quality of the content and a totally unique presentation.
  • Our projects will be chosen based on their strengths. We will not limit ourselves to being to any one genre or style. We hope to produce a diverse line of entertainment from comics to illustrated novels to multimedia software and the only constant will be the quality of the content and a totally unique presentation.
